- PATENTED PULL-PIERCE TECHNOLOGY: CO2 is stored in the launcher unpunctured until the first trigger pull. On first trigger pull the CO2 is punctured and a projectile is launched simultaneously.
The Byrna CL-XL is not classified as a firearm since it is powered by co2 cartridges. It therefore does not require a permit or background check to own and is legal in all 50 states. Must be 18 or older to purchase. Please check with city regulations.
This kit does not come with chemical projectiles so it is legal in all 50 states.
The Byrna CL-XL is only compatible with .61 caliber projectiles.

What is the main difference between the Byrna CL and the Byrna CLXL?
The primary difference is the CO2 source and capacity. The standard Byrna CL uses 8-gram CO2 cartridges, whereas the Byrna CLXL is upgraded to use standard 12-gram CO2 cartridges. This allows for more shots per cylinder and a higher muzzle velocity.
Is the Byrna CLXL much larger than the original CL?
No. The CLXL maintains its "Compact" status. To accommodate the larger 12g CO2 cartridge, the CLXL is only 0.75 inches longer than the standard CL. It fits comfortably in the hand while providing a slightly improved grip surface.
Does the CLXL shoot harder than the standard CL?
Yes. The CLXL features a factory-tuned velocity increase, reaching up to 410 FPS (feet per second), providing more kinetic energy upon impact.
Can I use my existing Byrna CL magazines in the CLXL?
Yes! The Byrna CLXL is backward compatible with standard 5-round Byrna CL magazines. Also the new 7 Round Extended Magazine will fit in the CL or CLXL.
Why is 12g CO2 better than 8g?
12-gram CO2 is the most common size in the world for air powered devices. You can find it at almost any sporting goods store, and it is significantly more cost-effective when purchased in bulk compared to the specialty 8g cartridges.

Love the size and the capacity. Now I get 8 rounds instead of 6. That's including loading one into the chamber as it does automatically.

When I decided to purchase the Byrna CL, I wanted the new color, but Byrna.com was sold out. Then I found Discount Paintball had it in stock and ordered from them! It's called pink, but it's really a plum/lavender and looks amazing! I started with the SD, but the safety kept getting switched off in my purse. I am SO pleased with the size, weight, and feel of the CL! (Also love this new color!!)

Love it! I was nervous about no safety, but after firing and feeling the stages of trigger pull, I’m no longer concerned. Perfect size!
Love the green cerakote Byrna CL. Quick delivery, functions as advertised, and easily concealable. Love the ability to have CO2 cartridge loaded (but not activated) until needed. If you want a less lethal launcher, this is the one for me. The Hogue beaver tail grip sleeve made it perfect for grip.

We are sorry you had trouble. While these fit very tightly, we have successully installed many of these without any issues or tears. We just followed the directions and with a little heat and some lubrication, they slide right on.
This grip makes holding my Byrna much easier and give me a better grip.
